WORLD OCEANS DAY 2019 - OCEANSASIA PARTNERS WITH MARINETRAFFIC

We are very proud to announce that we have partnered with MarineTraffic, the leading provider of global ship tracking intelligence.

Their platform has been a vital tool in our work combatting illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, allowing us to follow ship movements for our target vessels of interest, seeing where they are operating and with whom they rendezvous.

OceansAsia’s foundation is ‘intelligence based conservation’. Being able to prempt where a potential crime may occur rather than investigating crimes that have already happened.

MarineTraffic is providing us with the right tools and expertise to best handle our needs, and in return, we have agreed to assist them in their quest to further improve their coverage in our region.

Satelitte coverage is only so good, base receiving stations offer better coverage not just for our work but for the shipping industry in general.

DO YOU WANT TO HELP ?

All you’ll need is an internet connection and a power source. We will provide the hardware which is one very small box (approx 6” long) and an antenna approx 4ft with mount to be placed up as high as possible. This is literally plug and play. Once up and running you will be contributing to the coverage and accuracy.

The unit is free of charge and uses very little power and bandwidth.

We would really like to hear from dive centers and other coastal businesses in the South East Asian region.

INTERESTED?     Drop us an email and we’ll check with MarineTraffic to see what their coverage is in your area.
